The phrase “happily ever after” comes to us from fairy tale stories of romance, so it’s no surprise that bride Amanda dreamed of beginning her happily ever after with a wedding day that felt straight from a storybook. With a traditional ceremony, meaningful moments rooted in their faith, and a venue full of historic charm, Amanda & Cameron’s celebration for 150 guests at The Estate on the Halifax was just like stepping into a Disney movie.
Amanda & Cameron’s story started at a Bible study. At the time, Amanda had shared a prayer request that the owner of the house she lived in was moving. Not long after, Cameron ended up moving into the house next door. What started as neighbors quickly turned into something more. Their relationship reflects their personalities well: Amanda gives off a confident, steady presence, while Cameron has a quieter, gentler strength. Together they balance each other in a way that feels natural and grounded.
Storybook romance at The Estate on the Halifax
Although Amanda & Cameron live just outside metro Orlando, they chose to tie the knot at The Estate on the Halifax because it offered an otherworldly escape that is unlike any other wedding venue. Offering multiple “venues” (or sites) within the property, each corner of the property provides a picturesque backdrop for images and plenty of interest for guests.
The estate has a distinct old-world charm, with historic architecture and design elements that feel quaint and whimsical. The property is also expansive, which worked well for a larger guest list. With a full property rental, the different venues within the estate can serve different purposes on your wedding day—there are dedicated areas for getting ready, cocktail hour, the ceremony chapel, the reception tavern, gardens for portraits, and even a vintage train car! The layout allowed the wedding to flow naturally from one space to the next without feeling crowded.
Getting ready at Agatha’s Guest House
Amanda spent the morning getting ready with her bridesmaids at Agatha’s Guest House on the estate property. The morning included hair and makeup, bridesmaid portraits, and a few lighthearted moments including a spontaneous pillow fight that made for some fun photos! The bridal party also set off festive poppers to kick off the big day.
Amanda’s bridal gown fit beautifully with the romantic, vintage feel of the venue. She wore a strapless sweetheart gown with lace detailing on the bodice and delicate floral accents at the top of the skirt. One of the most distinctive details was her floral headpiece which delicately wrapped around her head like a crown, giving her a soft, fairytale look. She also wore lace fingerless gloves with embroidered floral details, which added to the vintage aesthetic. Cameron, for his part wore a navy suit that complemented the wedding’s navy and gold color palette.
A traditional chapel ceremony
Amanda & Cameron’s wedding day began with a first touch. Standing just around the corner from each other, the couple held hands and prayed together before the ceremony began. There were tears, private vows, and a sense of togetherness before everything officially started. For a couple whose relationship is so deeply rooted in their faith, it was our (and perhaps their) favorite moment of the day.
Amanda & Cameron’s ceremony then took place indoors at the chapel on the property at 4:30 PM. The chapel has a very warm, wood-toned interior that contributes to the venue’s historic atmosphere. Including spiritual moments such as foot washing in their ceremony, their short but sweet ceremony was a testament to their love for one another as well as their love for the Lord.
Photographer Pro Tip: One thing couples should know about this ceremony space is that it’s quite dark compared to many modern venues. The deep wood tones throughout the estate create a cozy, intimate feeling, but they also mean that lighting conditions are more limited indoors. Fortunately, the property offers plenty of shaded outdoor areas that make portrait sessions easy throughout the day.
Portrait locations around the estate
Bridal portraits took place throughout the estate grounds, especially around the gardens. The property offers a wide variety of backdrops, which makes it easy to create a diverse gallery without needing to travel anywhere else.
One of the standout spots for photos is the gazebo structure in the gardens, which works especially well for sunset portraits. The best light at this venue tends to happen about 30 minutes to an hour before golden hour, when the sun softens and the surrounding trees filter the light beautifully.
Photographer Pro Tip: Because much of the outdoor space is shaded, lighting tends to be very flattering even earlier in the afternoon. Not all outdoor wedding venues offer soft, diffused lighting before sunset hours, so this is a huge benefit and allows for more flexibility in your timeline for fitting in portraits.
Getting the party started
The reception took place indoors at the Tavern beginning at 6:30 PM. Tables featured navy runners with gold charger plates, continuing the elegant navy and gold theme of the day. Instead of a traditional tiered wedding cake, Amanda and Cameron opted for a tiered bundt cake, which was a fun and unique alternative that we haven’t seen before!
The reception began with classic traditions: the couple’s first dance, followed by the mother-son dance and the mother-daughter dance. Heartfelt speeches from the best man and maid of honor followed, setting a warm and celebratory tone for the rest of the evening.
As the night progressed, the dance floor filled with a mix of Latin hits and popular English-language songs. One unexpected moment came when guests surprised someone in attendance with a spontaneous birthday shout-out during the reception.
For many of the guests, the wedding also felt like a church reunion of sorts with friends reconnecting, celebrating together, and supporting Amanda & Cameron as they began their marriage.
A storybook wedding to remember forever
Amanda & Cameron’s wedding felt whimsical, romantic, and full of meaning. From their emotional first touch and prayer together to a lively reception surrounded by their church community, the day reflected the things that matter most to them: faith, family, and commitment.
