Not every wedding needs a ballroom packed with hundreds of guests to feel meaningful. Sometimes, all it takes is a room full of the people who’ve been there from the beginning. That’s exactly what Lysandra & Brad created with their intimate wedding celebration at Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, FL.
Their story actually began in the very place they returned to celebrate their new marriage. Right after high school, they both worked in food and beverage at Rosen Shingle Creek and were part of the team that helped open the hotel. Years later, after building a life together, they came back as husband and wife. More than a beautiful venue, this location was the start of their story together.
After officially tying the knot earlier that day at the Orange County Courthouse, they gathered with about 25 of their closest family members and friends for a relaxed evening dinner before heading off to Punta Cana for their destination wedding celebration. It was simple, personal, and exactly what they wanted.
Private wedding receptions at Rosen Shingle Creek
While Rosen Shingle Creek is well known for hosting large Orlando weddings and conferences, it’s also a fantastic option for smaller celebrations. The private dining rooms at A Land Remembered offer an elegant space for intimate receptions without feeling oversized, and having hotel rooms, restaurants, and beautiful grounds all in one location makes the day incredibly easy for both couples and guests.
As photographers, some of our favorite portrait locations are tucked just outside the main pathways. The Rose Garden near the pool creates beautiful leading lines with the hotel rising in the background, while the grand stone staircases and fountain offer a completely different look without having to leave the property. If you’re planning portraits here, golden hour around the fountain is especially beautiful, although the Rose Garden can get busy during the day since it’s located next to the pool.
A celebration that felt like coming home
When Author Made team photographer Kelly arrived, she met up with Lysandra & Brad for a short portrait session before their guests arrived. Even without a formal ceremony, there was something incredibly special about photographing them back where they first met. Walking through the same hotel halls and gardens they once knew as coworkers carried a different kind of meaning now.
The weather kept us guessing all evening. We started under overcast skies before steady rain moved in during dinner, limiting how much time we could comfortably spend outdoors. Thankfully, Rosen Shingle Creek’s soaring lobby, elegant architecture, and warm interior spaces made beautiful backdrops while everyone stayed dry.
One of our favorite moments came when the family gathered around as Lysandra and Brad cut their cake right in the lobby outside the private dining room. It wasn’t elaborate or overproduced, just a joyful moment shared with the people they love most. The cake server and champagne glasses they used had been gifted by family members, adding another personal detail to an already sentimental evening.
As dinner wrapped up, the rain finally eased enough for us to sneak outside one more time for a few portraits in the Rose Garden. Standing together where their relationship first began made those final images feel especially fitting.
