Weddings are ultimately about you, your soon-to-be spouse, and your closest loved ones, and there’s a special magic about weddings that really emphasize all three beautifully. Lauren & Brett’s beachfront micro wedding at Harbour House had that exact feeling from the moment we arrived.
The happy couple hosted around 50 guests for their wedding near Melbourne, Florida, choosing Harbour House because it was close to their beach property and gave them enough room to celebrate without needing to host everything themselves. For couples planning a smaller wedding on Florida’s East Coast, it really fits that sweet spot between upscale beach venue and relaxed coa
When we arrived, both Lauren & Brett were already getting ready onsite. One of the nice things about Harbour House is having both bridal and groom suites in the same location, which makes the day feel smooth logistically, especially for smaller weddings where couples want to maximize time with guests instead of driving around between locations.
Emotional first looks & a windy beach ceremony
Before the ceremony, Lauren shared a first look with her bridesmaids that immediately turned highly emotional. Everyone completely freaked out when they saw her! (She did look stunning, of course!) Shortly after, she did a first look with her son, which ended up being one of the most tearful and sweet moments of the day.
Lauren & Brett’s wedding ceremony took place outside on the beach with a close friend officiating. It was windy (very windy) but that almost added to the atmosphere. The ocean in the background, Lauren getting emotional during the ceremony, everyone laughing and tearing up… it all felt very natural and unforced.
Afterward, we stayed outside for family photos and portraits before everyone headed upstairs for dinner and the reception.
Harbour House in Indian Harbour Beach, FL
If you’re searching for a beachfront wedding venue near Melbourne or Cocoa Beach, Harbour House is a really solid option especially suited for intimate or micro weddings up to 85 guests. The venue has direct beach access, coastal-inspired interiors, and a second-story balcony that overlooks the ocean, giving couples multiple spaces to use throughout the day.
The beachfront itself is obviously the star of the show for portraits, though you should definitely expect direct, overhead, and side lighting for much of the afternoon since the beach faces east. Unlike west coast Florida beaches, you won’t get the sun setting directly over the water, so golden hour portraits at Harbour House tend to have a softer side-lit or diffused-light look depending on where you position the couple along the dunes and shoreline. (Personally, we really love the soft, romantic look of the shaded evening light.) On bright afternoons like Lauren & Brett’s wedding day, the lack of shade on the beach can create harsher conditions into early evening, but once the sun drops lower behind the buildings and dunes, the light becomes much more flattering for portraits!
Evening photos & a laid-back reception
After dinner, we snuck back out onto the beach for evening portraits. With the east-facing beach and the sun behind the buildings, their photos ended up feeling very coastal and nostalgic, almost like vintage beach film photos!
Lauren & Brett were incredibly comfortable together the entire day. Not overly performative, not trying too hard, just genuinely happy to be there together. That energy carried into the reception too.
The dance floor never fully turned into a huge party (most of the guest list skewed older), so everyone made the call to pivot the timeline a bit and move up the sparkler exit while guests still had energy. The night ended on a high note with everyone cheering them on outside before they headed off together.
Not every wedding needs to be loud or over-the-top to feel meaningful. Lauren & Brett’s day was simple, emotional, and full of the kind of quiet joy that comes from two people who are completely comfortable with each other and excited for what’s next.
