Finding love at just the right time
Kristina & Brett’s intimate wedding at the Art & History Museums of Maitland was one of the most moving and emotional weddings we’ve had the privilege to attend. From the start, it was clear this wasn’t just a celebration of two people—it was a celebration of family, healing, and the kind of love that finds you at just the right time.
Brett never expected to find love, especially not in his 40s and certainly not in a client meeting, where he and Kristina first met. What started in a boardroom turned into quiet conversations, shared trust, and eventually, love. Brett’s patience, consistency, and devotion (especially to her daughter) helped Kristina feel safe in love again after a previous relationship, and the rest was history!
A botanical art museum wedding in the heart of Orlando
For couples seeking a wedding venue filled with history and character, the Art & History Museums of Maitland is one of Central Florida’s hidden gems. Nestled just north of Orlando, this historic space blends Mediterranean Revival architecture with enchanting courtyards, lush gardens, and a quiet charm that’s perfect for elopements, intimate weddings, and micro weddings.
The Mayan Courtyard, where Kristina & Brett held their ceremony, is especially striking, surrounded by sculpted walls and intricate stonework. It’s the kind of space that feels sacred, whether you're hosting ten guests or a few dozen. Through our exclusive relationship with Ceremonies by Chrissy and the venue team, Kristina & Brett were even able to explore some tucked-away corners of the museum grounds during their portrait session—places most couples never get to see. It was a lovely surprise for them and made the day feel even more personal.
A wedding centered on family
When Kristina and Brett arrived, they were a little stressed about sticking to the timeline, but every vendor brought a calm, easy energy that helped everything settle into place. A string duet played their favorite rock ballads—think “Everlong” by Foo Fighters and “Iris” by Goo Goo Dolls—and the courtyard filled with that unmistakable mix of nerves and joy. Kristina spent time with her daughter getting ready beneath a little canopy, and we captured a few sweet pre-ceremony moments that set the tone for the rest of the day.
Even though things ran a bit behind, no one was worried. Chrissy (their officiant) reminded everyone that the ceremony was intentionally short, and more than that—it was meaningful, no matter the minute.
With just ten loved ones gathered around, the ceremony took place in the Mayan Courtyard. Kristina’s daughter played a central role throughout the day, and both Kristina and Brett made sure their vows reflected the story they’ve built together not just as a couple, but as a family.
At one point, Chrissy asked Kristina’s daughter to make a promise to help protect and nurture their marriage. She stood up and immediately began to cry. It was one of the most moving things we’ve ever witnessed during a ceremony, and there wasn’t a dry eye in sight (ours included).
After the ceremony, everyone moved into the main courtyard for the first dance. Kristina & Brett chose “A Thousand Years,” but about halfway through, they laughed and tried to call it quits. We gently encouraged them to finish the song—and they invited everyone to join them on the dance floor. What followed was a spontaneous, joyful group dance where everyone swapped partners and ended in a circle of hugs and laughter. It was the perfect way to celebrate.
We snuck off for their bridal portraits soon after, and the string duet even tagged along, serenading the couple as we wandered the museum grounds. It created a calm, romantic backdrop for some truly beautiful images.
The whole day is ahead!
As we wrapped up, Kristina turned to us and asked, “So… what do we do with the rest of the day?” It’s a fair question—most weddings go well into the evening, but this morning celebration (part of the museum’s micro wedding and elopement package) left the rest of the day wide open. We suggested a resort pass and poolside relaxation—and her eyes lit up. “That sounds amazing,” she said.
Kristina & Brett’s wedding was a reminder that love doesn’t have to be loud to be meaningful. Sometimes, it’s in the quiet moments—in a tearful promise, a favorite song, or the way a daughter is welcomed into something new—that we find what matters most.
Congratulations, Kristina & Brett! Your story is one we’ll never forget.
