Gracie & Austin’s romantic country wedding at The Hidden Barn Venue was such a lovely blend of classic wedding traditions with western flair. We think that if you’re tying the knot at such an iconic and thematic venue as The Hidden Barn Venue, you’ve got to go all in just like Gracie & Austin did to perfection!
Dreaming of a country-style wedding that never sacrificed on elegance, the couple enhanced the theme of rustic romance with thoughtful details such as cowboy hats and boots, the dreamiest dress, and soft blush florals. The kind of couple who could spend 20 minutes crying during their first look and then spend the rest of the evening laughing the night away, this harmony of softness + strength was just so them!
When we arrived, the day was already off to a smooth start. Getting ready took place in the house on the property before Gracie shared separate emotional first looks with first her mom and then with groom Austin. The couple also exchanged private vows beneath the pergola, a quiet moment that ended up being one of the most heartfelt parts of the day, captured unobtrusively by Author Made co-owner Michael on photo and team photographer/videographer Kelly training on video. In fact, it took Grace & Austin nearly twenty minutes before either of them could stop crying enough to continue!

For Gracie & Austin, there was no other option to fit their wedding vision so perfectly. The white chapel created a beautiful backdrop for their outdoor ceremony, while the vintage pickup truck, covered pergolas, old western storefronts, and rustic bridge all tied into the romantic country aesthetic they were dreaming of.
A homespun, family-centric style wedding
The ceremony itself was unplugged, allowing everyone to stay fully present as bride Gracie walked down the aisle. As wedding photographers, we actually prefer when our couples request guests to keep their phones tucked away as it’s notoriously difficult to remove a straying arm and phone from the middle of your walking-down-the-aisle shot!
Throughout the day it was obvious how much these two valued family. Every interaction felt inclusive of the entire family, whether it was their emotional first look with family looking on from afar, the support from their wedding party, or the way everyone gathered together after the ceremony for portraits.
One especially sweet moment came during the reception when Gracie & Austin shared not only the traditional first dance, father-daughter dance, and mother-son dance, but also a grandmother-grandson dance that had everyone tearing up.
Michael on photography spent post-ceremony portrait time with Gracie & Austin around the venue’s iconic vintage truck, Hidden Barn mural, and nearby bridge, making full use of the western-inspired theme before slipping away again during golden hour for one final bridal session. Fortunately, the rain that’d been threatening all day held off just long enough for portraits before everyone ducked back inside.
A rowdy, wild-west reception
The reception had plenty of memorable moments, though maybe none quite as entertaining as the bouquet toss. Instead of landing neatly in someone’s hands, the bouquet found its way into the ceiling… where it stayed. The wedding planner gave it a shot to dislodge the bouquet with a long pole, but after several minutes it became clear that wasn’t going to work. Eventually one of the dads disappeared to his truck, returned with an even longer pole, and finally rescued the bouquet to applause from the entire room in exactly the kind of unscripted wedding moment everyone ends up talking about afterward.
The dance floor stayed lively throughout the evening (even if the DJ seemed to enjoy the airhorn sound effect just a little too much) and Gracie & Austin never stopped smiling. They wrapped up the night with a private last dance before heading outside for a sparkler exit. Just as they climbed into their getaway car, a light rain began falling, making for a fitting end to an already unforgettable day (and a stunning sparkle effect to their exit photos!).
Gracie & Austin’s wedding was relaxed without sacrificing elegance, and thoughtful without losing a sense of fun. Full of those who were genuinely excited to celebrate alongside them, it was the perfect reflection of who they are together as a couple.
