Alicia & Kaleb’s western chic wedding at The Hidden Barn Venue in Apopka, FL
Western Boho Rustic Chic Wedding Reception at The Hidden Barn Venue in Apopka, FL | Orlando Wedding Photographer & Videographer
Author Made team photographer Kelly along with creative lead & founder Michael captured this “Wild West with elegance” wedding reception just outside Orlando in Apopka, FL.
One of the newest trends we’ve been seeing lately, as Orlando-based wedding photographers, is couples choosing to tie the knot in a small, private ceremony and then use their funds to throw a large wedding celebration with friends & family. Alicia & Kaleb did just that before their December wedding at The Hidden Barn Venue in Apopka, just north of metro Orlando. A few months after their private wedding ceremony, loved ones gathered for the kind of wedding reception their guests would never forget.
Maximum energy, maximum theming
Instead of spending large amounts of money on a packed, traditional wedding ceremony, newlyweds Alicia & Kaleb hosted a wedding reception in Apopka, FL, for about 100 of their closest friends. The vibe? Western, rustic chic, and just the right amount of rowdy.
From the moment guests arrived, you could feel the energy building. There was a first look, a big bridal party cracking jokes during portraits, and a cocktail hour designed for mingling and exploring. When the reception officially opened at 5:30 PM, it didn’t take long for the crowd to settle in. And by “settle,” we mean head straight for the bar and the guest book before gearing up for a night of dancing.
Hidden Barn Venue: A western playground for wedding guests
If you’re searching for a unique wedding venue in Orlando, FL that’s more of an experience than a site, The Hidden Barn Venue delivers. This isn’t your typical rustic barn: it’s a whole themed Western town complete with curated vignettes, textured backdrops, and plenty of social media–worthy photo opportunities.
For Alicia & Kaleb’s high-energy, fun wedding reception, it worked perfectly.
The venue offers:
A dedicated cocktail hour space that encourages guests to mingle and explore
A relaxed courtyard with moody evening lighting and string light accents
A built-in bar and DJ space designed for seamless party flow
A getting-ready suite with an entire wall of mirrors (perfect for large bridal parties)
A pool table and kitchen space for hanging out pre-reception
Guests wandered through the courtyard, snapped photos in the themed Western setups, and used every nook of the venue as their own personal backdrop. It’s the kind of space that invites people to loosen up, which is exactly what Alicia & Kaleb wanted.

Western romance with a modern twist
While the venue leaned rustic, Alicia kept her bridal look soft and romantic. She wore a lace-trimmed milkmaid-style dress with a tie front and sleeveless straps: boho, natural, and effortlessly chic. Kaleb went classic in a black suit.
The reception decor blended rustic elegance with subtle Western details. Round tables mixed with long family-style tables dressed in white linens, sage green napkins, gold candlesticks, and blush-and-white rose arrangements with organic greenery. Small details, like an embroidered cowboy boot decor piece and wagon wheel accents, tied everything together without overpowering the room.
Portraits with a timeless feel
Even in a themed venue, there are ways to keep portraits feeling timeless. For Alicia & Kaleb’s couple photos, we gravitated toward cleaner backdrops, especially the old car near the entrance and open areas with flattering light and minimal distractions.
Best photo spots at Hidden Barn Venue include:
The field near the water tower
The vintage car by the entrance
The swings with a mural backdrop
The cocktail hour space (before guests fill it)
Photographer Pro Tip: One thing to note for couples planning a wedding here: reception lighting can vary significantly depending on DJ setups and dance floor effects. If you’re hiring a photographer for your Hidden Barn wedding, plan on flash coverage throughout the evening and communicate lighting expectations in advance. The dance floor can shift from romantic glow to full concert mode quickly, which honestly, made for some epic party shots.
Unforgettable speeches and an epic dance floor
Dinner was served buffet-style from the side porch, and the couple made a point to visit every table for a photo, something we often see at weddings that’s a big hit with guests.
But the standout moment? The best man’s toast. Delivered like a professional comedian with perfectly crafted timing, it had the entire room laughing. It was heartfelt without being overly sentimental, very on-brand for this emotionally reserved but deeply caring group of friends. Even Alicia and Kaleb, who tend to keep their emotions close to the chest, couldn’t stop smiling.
But once the DJ dropped 2000s millennial hits, the dance floor exploded. Guests screamed lyrics at the top of their lungs, bartenders stayed busy all night, and the energy never dipped. At one point, Kaleb heard a song he loved before the dance floor was officially open and grabbed Alicia for an extra dance just because he couldn’t wait.
As the night went on, the party naturally spilled into the outdoor courtyard. String lights overhead, warm air, friends laughing made this wedding reception feel like a backyard party in the best possible way.
And yes… at one point, guests picked up the faux candles from the tables and used them like concert lighters (or lightsabers). Exactly the kind of chaos you expect from a couple who loves karaoke and being the life of the party.
Alicia & Kaleb’s wedding reception at The Hidden Barn Venue in Apopka, Florida was more about community than tradition. About celebrating with the people who show up for you when family lives far away. About dancing until your feet hurt and yelling every lyric like it’s your personal anthem.
If you’re looking for a Central Florida wedding venue that encourages guests to explore, mingle, and party hard, The Hidden Barn Venue is a solid choice, especially for couples who want a Western-inspired, rustic chic celebration with built-in personality.
As Florida wedding photographers, we love weddings like this. Loud. Joyful. A little chaotic. And completely, unapologetically fun.
