What It’s Like to Get Married at Summer House on the Lake in Lake Buena Vista, FL — Wedding Venue Review
Indoor & covered outdoor wedding ceremonies at Summer House on the Lake
While you may not initially think of a restaurant as being a wedding ceremony space, Summer House on the Lake begs to differ. The stunning architecture and carefully-curated interior design make this space feel more like an upscale coastal retreat than the highly-visited restaurant that it is, making this a strong option for an all-in-one venue.
Wedding ceremonies are typically held in the covered Lakeview Terrace, the restaurant’s lanai overlooking Lake Buena Vista. While most wedding ceremonies are arranged for the aisle and seats to parallel the lake view, weddings with smaller guest counts can utilize the lake as a backdrop and face the aisle towards the scenery.
For a fully indoor or more casual setup, weddings hosting a reception in the private Front Porch room can set up a small ceremony space within their reception area.
Intimate weddings: If your guest list is under 40, you can reserve Lakeview Terrace for both your wedding ceremony and reception. Your ceremony will utilize half the lanai space with reception seating arranged on the other end. This is a wonderful option for intimate weddings looking for the convenience of an all-in-one space!
Indoor wedding receptions at Summer House on the Lake
Full-size wedding receptions
While wedding ceremonies are certainly a solid option at Summer House on the Lake, receptions are where this venue shines. The ease of hosting your wedding celebration at an already established restaurant space is truly convincing: a space already set up with seating; beautiful decor requiring little to no additional adornment throughout the interior; professional staff accustomed to serving high volumes of guests on a daily basis; and a full onsite kitchen…not to mention the incredible menu. (Our personal favorite: the miso-glazed salmon with, of course, a post-meal visit to the legendary Cookie Bar!).
Summer House on the Lake offers several spaces for your wedding reception: the private Front Porch (with option to include the Porch Patio), the main dining Sun Room, the Lakeview Terrace, the Lakeside event space (combining the previous two areas into one large gathering), the Palm Bar Lounge & Patio, or a full restaurant buy-out.
Front Porch: Dedicated private room with lush greenery, wood accents, and atmospheric hanging paper light features. Seats 100 guests reception style and offers option to add on the Porch Patio for additional space and warm breezes.
Sun Room: The main dining room of the restaurant, this bright and airy center atrium offers an array of tables and banquettes accommodating up to 200 reception guests.
Lakeview Terrace: Scenic lanai overlooking Lake Buena Vista, offering waterfront breezes, retractable screens and heat lamps (for cooler days) with room for 80 reception guests.
Lakeside: Combining the Sun Room and Lakeview Terrace, this option is ideal for large receptions of up to 250 or if you want the flexibility of the outdoor lanai for cocktails alongside an indoor dining reception.
Palm Bar Lounge: Semi-private lounge with dedicated bar, warm wood accents, and intimate feel overlooking the bustling Disney Springs atmosphere. Seats up to 50 and includes option to add outdoor patio space along the main walkway.
Full Buy Out: For large parties or those seeking a fully private reception, you can reserve the entire Summer House on the Lake for up to 500 reception guests, offering your guests all the diverse spaces listed above to relax and enjoy the special day.
Intimate wedding receptions
Intimate wedding receptions can of course choose from any of the options above for a private reception, but if you’re simply planning a celebratory meal with a few friends & family, Summer House on the Lake offers 3 large party table arrangements within the public restaurant. Parties above 8 guests should contact the venue to inquire about one of these seating arrangements for their group meal:
Sun Room Banquette: Long, family-style table within the bright Sun Room seating up to 20.
Lakeview Point: Round, 8-seat table in the most scenic corner of the outdoor Lakeview Terrace offering waterfront views.
Under the Yucca: 4 banquette tables arranged on each side of the towering yucca tree in the Sun Room, with 8 seats per side for a total capacity of 32 guests.

What we most love about getting married at Summer House on the Lake in Lake Buena Vista, FL
All-in-one convenience: As opposed to traditional wedding venues which require a venue rental fee, catering costs, restricted kitchen space, additional decor, and often extra costs for table and linen rentals, a wedding at Summer House on the Lake includes all you need for a fully-functioning, seamless and stress-free celebration. With only food and beverage minimums and taxes/fees (as you would experience with any venue/caterer), you can really experience all the benefits—and cost savings—of an all-in-one wedding ceremony and/or reception here at Summer House on the Lake.
Flexibility for large or small reception parties: Many of our wedding photography clients hosting intimate weddings opt for a semi-private room or simply a large dining table within a public restaurant in lieu of a full wedding reception. We love this approach as it allows for what matters most on your wedding day: the chance to celebrate with those nearest and dearest to you. Summer House on the Lake is a beautiful, thoughtful way to enjoy a wonderful meal in an atmospheric setting whether you’re raising a glass with a handful of loved ones or reserving a private room for your evening.
Vibrant, accessible atmosphere: Located within the ever-popular Disney Springs shopping and dining district, Summer House on the Lake is easy to access especially for out-of-town guests. Within minutes of most of the Orlando area’s hotels, just off I-4, and a short walk from Disney Spring’s West End Ride Share/Bus Loop and Orange parking garage, Summer House on the Lake is easy to visit for those with or without their own transportation. The bustling Disney Springs atmosphere allows guests to extend their evening, if desired, around the rest of all the district has to offer, from browsing high-end shops to grabbing a Dole Whip after the party ends (the stand is located on the other end of Disney Springs across from the Rainforest Café, if you’re interested to know…).
Disney wedding without being a “Disney wedding”: If you’re dreaming of a Disney wedding without going “full Disney”, your wedding at Summer House on the Lake offers the fun of getting married on-property without overt theming. As an especially popular venue with out-of-state couples or those traveling from overseas, Summer House on the Lake provides Disney-level service within the heart of Walt Disney World while remaining distinctly themed to its own modern, warm and coastal aesthetic.
Potential setbacks to consider for a wedding at Summer House on the Lake
Indoor dining options: To be honest, as locals ourselves, the option for an indoor wedding reception is certainly a plus; but if you have your heart set on dancing the night away under the stars, a wedding reception at Summer House on the Lake might not be the venue for you. The most outdoor options are located on the covered Lakeview Terrace or the fully-outdoor corner table of Lakeview Point. Offering outdoor breezes with the weather protection of a covered roof (and retractable screens), given Florida’s unpredictable weather, Lakeview Terrace offers the best of both worlds in our candid opinion.
Walking distance from parking or rideshare/public transportation: While Summer House on the Lake is a very short walk from either drop-off or closest parking garage, guests with limited accessibility may find even this brief distance a hindrance. However, Disney Springs and Summer House on the Lake are both fully ADA accessible, offering elevators in the parking garages or ramps to enter the restaurant, respectively. If you’re hosting your wedding on an especially busy evening, you may find the Orange parking garage full, requiring a further walk from one of Disney Springs’ other garages, but be sure to discuss your wedding date and arrival time with the team at Summer House on the Lake for their best guidance on planning your visit around the district’s busiest moments.
Options for public dining: Summer House on the Lake offers fully private, semi-private, semi-public, or fully public reception/large group dining options. Unless you reserve a full restaurant buy-out, some visibility with the public should be expected, even if it’s only upon your guests entering/exiting your reception. Regular restaurant patrons will still access the other areas of the restaurant, with the venue offering partitions or controlled access to your reserved space.

Our recommendations for your wedding at Summer House on the Lake
With numerous options for your perfect wedding at Summer House on the Lake, it can be hard to decide which reservation is right for you. Based on our personal experience touring this venue (and, yes, dining there ourselves), here are our personal recommendations based on your wedding needs and size:
Top pick: Palm Bar Lounge—Perfect for the Summer House on the Lake dining experience and atmosphere without extravagant cost. In this semi-private space, you’ll still hear some restaurant ambiance but receive ample privacy for your celebration. We love the Palm Bar Lounge as a great option for micro weddings, especially for our couples who choose a courthouse wedding in order to splurge a bit more on a meaningful reception with a mid-size guest list of friends and family.
Best combo space: Lakeview Terrace—Summer House on the Lake’s best option for hosting your wedding ceremony and reception all in one. This option is especially popular with couples choosing a morning ceremony, enjoying Disney Springs’ quiet early hours, and treating their guests to the restaurant’s delightful brunch menu. A combo wedding on the Lakeview Terrace can comfortably sit approximately 40 guests for both ceremony plus reception, making this an incredible option especially for destination intimate weddings.
Most traditional reception feel: Front Porch—Ideal if you’re hosting a smaller, traditional wedding reception for up to 100 guests and seeking full privacy. The Front Porch room (especially if you add on the patio for cocktails or just warm breezes) offers the “luxury California” aesthetic Summer House on the Lake is best known for within the Disney Springs experience. This private room also includes further amenities for a fully-equipped reception, including a complimentary music system and smart TVs for videos or slideshows.
Best for intimate weddings: Under the Yucca—If you’re just looking for a celebratory dinner with loved ones, the Under the Yucca tables within the public atrium are our pick for most unique and non-traditional option for intimate weddings. You and your guests can enjoy your meal underneath the stately yucca tree as a focal point amidst the restaurant’s bustling atmosphere. While your party will be broken up into groups of 8 seated around the tree (for a maximum party of 32), this arrangement is perfect for small wedding celebrations that want to prioritize conversation and connection.

Final thoughts – Summer House on the Lake Restaurant Indoor Wedding Venue
The atmosphere, all-in-one convenience, and stellar menu at Summer House on the Lake earn this restaurant a solid place in our ranking of favorite Central Florida wedding venues. We love the vibrant atmosphere of the Disney Springs district and the modern, coastal ambiance of the restaurant, making this an unforgettable reception space for your guests. With the potential cost savings of food & beverage minimums with no venue rental fee, and the convenience of pre-established tables and seating, a wedding at Summer House on the Lake stands strong as an attractive option for hosting your indoor wedding reception (or combo ceremony/reception). Or, if you’re simply looking for a wonderful dining option for a few loved ones after your intimate elopement or courthouse wedding, we love the ambiance of a family-style dinner in the main Summer House on the Lake dining room.

For the breezy, California aesthetic within the excitement of Walt Disney World, this wedding venue blends both worlds beautifully for a stress-free, flawless reception.
